STOP NSW LAND-CLEARING LAWS

Land clearing is one of the leading causes of species extinction in NSW. The cruelty and scale of this holocaust is difficult to imagine.

According to WWF, land clearing kills more than 200,000 mammals each year in NSW.

The total number of all kinds of animals killed, including mammals, birds, lizards and frogs is much higher than that number – possibly more than 1 million a year.

The animals either die by being crushed to death when trees fall, or else die of  injuries sustained during land-clearing operations.

Clearing is usually done by bulldozers because it is much faster than using chainsaws. The bulldozers either use the blade to push down individual trees, or else two bulldozers connected by a heavy chain drive through the forest pulling down trees caught in the chain, often hundreds of trees an hour.

Many animals die from injuries when the trees they nesting in fall to the ground. Others slowly starve to death because their food supplies have been destroyed.

Some people ask why the animals can’t simply escape escape to other forests. The sad truth is that most that flee the carnage and make it to another forest or woodland die because those areas are already fully occupied by animals that will fight invaders to protect their home territories.

The new laws that the Baird government plans to introduce will significantly increase this carnage and should not be allowed.

STOP BAIRD'S LAND CLEARING LAWS. SAVE OUR WILDLIFE.

STEP 1: You're killing more than trees.  Content about what's the life behind our trees.

STEP 2: You're throwing away our wildlife. Content and focus on animal carnage.
